The very informative and astute website, News.bg reports that a group of representatives of a consortium of Scandinavian private investors had talks with the Minister of economy and energy Peter Dimitrov regarding their intentions to invest in a project for wind energy production, informed the press center of the ministry.

The investors commented that their plans include long-term investment in the field of wind energy, infrastructure and real estate construction. Minister Dimitrov has expressed support in principal to the suggestion for a joint venture between the Scandinavian consortium and Bulgaria. The state participation in it will be in the form of consultancy help with the aim to preserve the environment and maintain synchrony with the Bulgarian long term policy in tourism and infrastructure development.

The Scandinavian consortium will take part in the building and the optimization of the infrastructure. It will also support the access to the EBRD financial sources and the Danish producers of wind turbines. The investors’ intentions are 35% of the production power for the construction of wind parks to be assembled in Bulgaria, which will give opportunity for the opening of additional work places.

The investments of the Scandinavian consortium in Europe equal so far to 1 bn EUR and are concentrated mainly in renewable energy sources built in Norway, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Poland and Italy.

Minister Dimitrov pointed out that currently in Bulgaria 10 projects in the field of energy are being implemented and each new one will strengthen the competitive environment in the country’s energy sector.

The Danish investors said that within a month they would send to Bulgaria their project idea.

European low cost air carrier easyJet will enter the Bulgarian market in the autumn of 2007.

It will fly between Sofia and London three times a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, investor.bg reported.

One-way tickets will cost 33.99 euro and return tickets 75.77 euro with taxes included.

EasyJet flights will start on November 6 from Sofia to Gatwick, the company’s largest base.

EasyJet representatives said that they were eager to present their product to Bulgaria. They said the new Sofia-London route will offer new opportunities for business trips and holidays to Bulgarian and foreign passengers.

EasyJet is the first air carrier in Europe that developed the low-cost business model.

A billion euro will be invested in building and fixing roads in Bulgaria over the next six years, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev and Transport Minister Petar Moutafchiev said during an inspection of the construction of a railway connecting Plovdiv and Svilengrad.

By 2013, the same amount will be invested in Bulgaria’s transport infrastructure, according to Focus news agency.

About 580 million euro will finance railroad infrastructure. About 990 million euro will go toward a subsidy for transport programmes, to be spent on road construction and redevelopment.

Bulgaria’s transport programme has the biggest budget of the seven operational programmes for EU funds.

Next year will see the construction of a 10.5km highway between Plovdiv and Asenovgrad.

The road between Sofia and Plovdiv will be reconstructed next year. Preliminary estimates say that the 100km road will cost 25 million euro.
